This is a very interesting depiction of the star region. The overall texture reminds me of some of the kiln-fired cobalt enamel-over-bronze work that artisans used to make. The enamel covered the entire surface and in museums I have seen it on objects like vases, jewelry boxes and the like. Yours reminds me of a small, intricately tessellated, perfume bottle. It has a great appearance of solidity to it. You also have really beautiful coloration here (I know your fondness for royal blues and gold [which I share]). A lovely piece here, Jim.

Treasure indeed Jim. Imagine being out in the fields with a metal detector and digging this up! It could be Boudicca's shield, a priceless and desirable object; finely shaped and tempered and embellished with burnished scenes of war. Gosh - and you nearly called it a thingymijig! Shame on you:-))
