Description

Same building as seen yesterday.. now from further away.. with the situation as it was in 1750 from the same spot as I was standing today. None (!) of the buildings of the image above (1750) still excists... None of the trees, none of the bridges, nothing.. except the canal (created in 1612).. Now surrounded by other trees, buildings.. Where the building that was shown yesterday is visual a Orphanage house is visual in the old image, it was not standing at the same location as the building seen yesterday. It stood a bit more towards us (until 1869) on the location where now the "sandbeach" is. The crane on the left on the old image was for getting large beer barrels from the ships. This is the Beer-harbor. There are still many cafe's here.. that did not change .. ha ha But other than that... Lot's of changes Nothing stays the same Do notice how modern high rise has classical tops, like the buildings of the past. Still the atmosphere still feels the same.. a bit. With a happy couple on the bridge in the distance. 8 februari 2011. It feels like spring has already arrived.

Great capture, comparison and information. Maybe sad for the gone old houses but at least the architects try to get inspired by the past!...
