Description

So .. I turned around, about the same spot as yesterday... Looking back.. Claude was partly right. We did have tax on glasses in the time of French rule (Napoleon) until around 1890. What you see are buildings build before and after these years. The high building on the corner must have been build around 1905. Most other buildings you see were 'made'in the 17th century. They used to have different "tops", but these were removed in the 18th and 19th century as "fashion" changed

Very nice photo Chris, and as always thank you for the explanation of it as that helps us enjoy it even more. I still marvel at how wonderful your structures appear, it seems your country really builds buildings that lasts and knows how to take care of them.

your testing out your tour words on us aren't you?.... That would be a good idea... take pictures of leaving the dock and at every interest.... then put you tour info with the pictures.... get it memorized - you've got less than 3 months?

I think one of the things I love about these buildings, these houses, is the fact that they all have such big windows! Shame the roof lines were changed, it must've looked so different before .. but it still is beautiful.
