Description

My intention here was to create an image of delicacy and simplicity similar to a Chinese silk painting. In the upper right quadrant is a crystal sphere, which is magnifying the fractal spiral under it by a factor of about 100. You can verify this by looking at the mirror image, lower left quadrant. The degree of magnification is controlled by changing the index of refraction of the crystal. When animation is not available, this is a technique I use to simulate zooms. But don’t let all of this distract you unduly; my principal objective was to make something beautiful. In my recent image “Skrying”, I used the same technique. I have also used it in several of my previous images. I said in “Skrying” it was a blank crystal ball and it was. It was simply magnifying the fractal under it. Of all of the kind Renderosity folks responding to this and playing along, at least one, Jim (Greyone) knew this but was too polite to let the cat out of the bag (thanks Jim); I did get an LOL from him though. Created in Ultra Fractal

This is stunning in its breathtaking beauty Stan. You wanted delicate beauty and you achieved that in spades. This is fantastic. It really does have a Japanese flavor to it. Your background lighting is a big part of how beautiful this came out. Have a great Thursday.

Amazingly beautiful, my only wish is that is was larger so that I could use it on my 1440 x 900 monitor without losing the sharpness.

This is sooo... beautiful and it does look like a silk painting. I love the garlands of flowers you have created and set against the deep dark background it really makes them stand out so well. A fabulous fractal.
