Description

Once, I enjoyed cheesecake and beer for breakfast in Prague. I enjoyed cheesecake and beer for breakfast in Prague, with a friend of Russian origin. Afterward, we wandered around the city. I wandered with my camera and tight-rope-walked along fences, bike-racks, and various treacherous barriers. After wandering, we stopped for more beer at U Sudu. We descended into the ancient cellar, smoked cigarettes, and talked. I enjoyed cheesecake (without beer) recently in Chicago. It was a cold day. I was with friends. One from Chicago (for the most part) and another from South Africa—a country where whirlpools rotate in the opposite direction, and the stars seen at night are different stars. I know for a fact I’d have a bit of trouble navigating at night in South Africa…I wouldn’t be able to find Orion. Or would I? Nah, Orion is a northern constellation, so I’d need to find something else. Anyway, I enjoyed beerless cheesecake, recently, with Carin and with Corey. We’d dipped into the Cheesecake Factory to shelter from winter’s chill. We were hungry for a light snack, and cheesecake fit the bill nicely. I snapped this photograph as we waited for our table. It was crowded that day: it seemed as if everyone wanted cheesecake. Because of the company I had, I can say that my cheesecake was the best. Carin was in Chicago for only a short time, but that single day provided me with enough good feelings to last…well…at least for a year. I found this picture among others I’d taken. I was instantly in love with the décor of the place. It was like stepping inside of a giant confection, or a place built by elves (the tall sorts of willowy, über-elegant elves and not those short guys in pointy hats.) I was (and am) quite anxious to see the place empty and perhaps one day I will…as it stands, I’m satisfied with this shot of the place. Carin and Corey were standing just to my left as I took this shot, and that is a part of why I like this shot so much. The host of the Cheescake Factor moved as this shot was taken, and so his face was nothing more than an odd, distracting blur. In order to correct that, I used another face: a random face captured some time ago. I kinda like the fit here, and it’s odd that the guy you see is not the guy who actually works behind that desk. It’s so much fun to play with reality like that, and I have to admit that I’ve been playing with reality quite a lot: probably because of the massive quantities of Dr. Pepper that I’ve been consuming. As always, thank you for viewing, commenting, and reading, and I hope you’re all having a great weekend.

WOW! Nice work on the identity shift. I would never have spotted the editing myself. Stalin has got nothing on you my friend. Hmmm, that gives me an idea for a picture series - The Commissar Vanishes 2: How Vladimir Lenin went from Soviet Revolutionary to Brewmeister in Hamilton, Ontario. See also the 1952 film, 'I was a Teenaged Communist' produced by the US Department of Defence. I like the deep rich colours of the scene here, very appetising. And who indeed can say no to cheesecake. Even Bolshevik cheesecake.

What an outstanding capture of a guy who doesn't work at the Cheesecake Factory! LOL! Actually, it's the pillar I'm in love with. Wow! The stylized leaves are fabulous. WAY cool!

Ah ha! Good face,...sort of fits the body quite nicely. So, now I'll add the Cheesecake Factory to my bucket list. One day we'll get back your way. Photo and story have left me with a good feeling...but my toddy tonight is squash soup in a cup...not so elegant but very tasty just the same:)

what an excellent capture--I know this sounds weird but the way this shot was framed and post treated that column almost looks--well...edible... Or perhaps just good enough to eat... very nice--the colors pop esp the pillar...gotta love it.

in the staates some things seems to be a little to big- like the pillar- makes people so small- with cheescake and beer it is inverse, could be bigger and more;) great picture

I will remember that day for as long as I live... It was special - cold beyond comprehension for a Southerner but warm with friendship, hot chocolate and cheesecake! Key lime cheesecake for you and I and then a blueberry and cream concocted cheesecake for Corey. I remember when his arrived I thought it looked better than ours... However, I'm not so sure because the key lime was divine! I LOVE this image of the pillar... You made a great image holding loads of memories!

I guess you would look for the Southern Cross in South Africa, you know the one Crosby, Stills and Nash sang about. Would love to see it myself. Nice capture and thanks for sharing.
