Description

I'm still sorting through pictures I took during a couple of cold winter nights a few weeks back, and I was really startled by the intense blue glow this one has. I didn't expect that at all, and have no idea how I managed it! I stood under the corner of the house, looking up at this massive ice formation, the longest ones are at least as tall as I am, and aimed my flash straight up at it, and somehow got this. Not that I'm complaining! Anyway, that should cover my winter-photography for a bit, it's warm and melting and the icicles are all gone now. It's amazing what a chunk of solid water will do when struck by light. I've read a few bits and pieces on the physics of light, but all those formulae they like to include usually turns my brain to mush. Wonderful photo, Mike!
