Description

I am still with the mountains surrounding Seattle and this image also has a "story". Bill and Tara drove me to the mountains to show me the stand they have purchased for their motorhome and while driving back, Mt Rainier was so beautiful in the distance. (For those who don't know - Mt Rainier is a massive stratovolcano located 54 miles southeast of Seattle.) We were on the freeway so I couldn't ask Bill to pull over. I did the next best thing and shot this image with my 200mm lens, handheld, in a moving car. I only saw the birds when I downloaded it onto my computer. A little cropping and color saturation adjustment and there you go. I am pretty pleased with the result. Thank you for popping in and for your wonderful comments and favs on my upload "May the Light Shine on You" for Piet's birthday. Stay well. Hugs, Carin xx

Great shot Carin, especially considering you did this from a moving car. The birds add to the atmosphere!

If I'm not mistaken (which I probably am) wasn't Mount Ranier the backdrop of the first authentic "Flying Saucer" sighting...well...that particular sighting is the one in which the term "flying saucer" was coined. At any rate, I bring this up because the birds remind me of the description of that event...there was apparently one, and then at some point, more than one of them. Weird how my mind works. And yeah, I gotta say that a stratovolcano makes a really impressive backdrop for anything, just as long as it's sleeping. I love stratovolcanoes, by the way--they're among the few volcano-looking volcanoes around. A big part of the USA is one huge supervolcano, but it just looks like a regular patch of somewhat geologically-active land. And now that I've rambled on and on (and on some more) I have to say that you've done Mount Ranier incredible justice here. It's superbly elegant! This is just perfect!
