Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

Great insectoid alien chap.I don't think aliens from space will visit Earth, they probably have more sense than that. If they've developed technology capable of traveling between the stars, they could probably synthesize whatever they needed without leaving home.

Fantastic bit of postwork and compositing, Chip! You know what I think? I think the grasshoppers are really space aliens. LOL! Not really, but ya gotta admit - they look like space aliens with those big eyes and funny mouth parts!

Excellent work! And we don't mind if you come to Earth to sleep with our women, just don't drink all the beer.

Yes, alien indeed; Chip, your brain is a very strange and wonderful place!

Outstanding work my friend.

This actually reminds me of "The Fly"--the original version that came out a long time ago. Scared the heck outta me, too!! Course, he wasn't an alien; it was just a major screw up in the lab. And, hmm, wasn't there some bizarre ending where the actual human who is now the fly gets swatted? Or is that a twisted version of my memory bank? Anyway, I love what you did here, and your take on aliens; always a little different from anyone else's!

Magic, Chip! Terrific result and of course a most interesting narrative.

superlative image and story!!

Yea, and what looks alien, really? If an alien has huge eyes, as many humans describe it and have a size as a human or a child, it might use to live in a dark planet with only little light and..because of that also a COLD one, SO it doesnt need a planet like the earth with so much sunshine and warmth....or what? HAHA It is a really fine Alien you have made Chip and an interesting story behind it :-)

fabulous image, it looks someone I know....LOL

Great use of Gimp to make an alien.

Great construct, he looks a little lost. I'm kind of in the camp that aliens would be so alien we probably wouldn't be aware of them. At least it helps me sleep at night!

Of course now I'm going to be afraid to look out the kitchen window when I'm doing my nightly nocturnal frige raid, thanks a lot! This weirds ME out, Neil would positivly platz! Hmmmmmmmm, there's an idea? Anyway, all kidding aside, this is a great job! Wonderful, creative work here! Of course I'm not going to be able to look at you in the coat any more without thinking about grasshopper heads....

I remember reading something, years ago, by David Brin. It was an essay in a book of short stories and musings, about alien visitation. (Doesn't he have some fascinating ideads?) Sorry I can't recall now what it was called ... but I'm sure the two of you would have lots to talk about! Love the grasshopper head! :)

I'd take a closer look at cows my friend. If you dare! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVazR-nhobc This composition is pretty believable. Really, the lighting is matched up perfectly and head looks quite natural on your body - no offense. And it stands to reason that a cold blooded insectoid alien would choose to wear a winter jacket here on Earth. Especially in the Chicago area. His home world must be a lot warmer and humid than much of our northern climate. But, he/she/it is an explorer and so goes to places that most of his/her/its kind would not feel comfortable visiting. Pansies, he/she/it thinks of his more whoosy brethren. And so like 'cricket' in so many south Asian languages, 'pansies' becomes at part of the buzzing vocabulary of his kind. Though, on another level, I can't help but think there is another 'Hair Club for Men' ad in this scene somewhere - yes, I've been drinking.

I think he is going to a party. Nice work !
