A very interesting picture, really. It also seems like someone comes up, with green hair. ;-)

HA Yes....could grow on a very HUGE cow...poo-poo, that was warm for long enough to make the grass grow. LOL !!! OK, it could perhaps be a very little spring, that gives water....OH! or a leaking waterpipe? Many years back we went up here for the weekend to this vacation house a winterday in January. We now live here permanent. When we arrived, we saw, that ALL the area around the house and most of the garden was red. We couldnt understand what happened, until we saw what made it all so red. It was excrements from birds like Bombycillidae (dont know the english name for it) and fieldfare. On their migration they discovered, that one of our waterpipes was broken and the water was streaming out, so they could get all the water they wanted and strip all the area for fruits from hawthorn and rowanberry, which there was full of at that time. They simply stayed here for a rest, where they could get water. :-) I am glad to say, that this happened BEFORE we began to PAY for water :-)

Jeff...your picture is super...but I must admit, Helle's story got me completely off Somerset Levels and onto birds overindulging on Hawthorn and Rowanberries...bombs away!

How interesting, the name fits perfectly. It does look like a "tussock". I've never heard of it before but still it fits for me. Magical.
