I wonder what our technology will look like in 60 years time?

Nice find and capture - a very intricate piece of kit.

Amazing - time moves on. I did my apprenticeship in the Air Force on a ground based valve transceiver something like this. Now your mobile phone can do much more than this bit of history! Clive

That is a very interesting radio, and one only for very experienced operators as its tuning is quite complex. Nice shot!

Like Neil (neiwil), I always find this stuff fascinating. Looks a lot more complicated than today's kit. All the functions of this radio would easily fit within a box the size of a small book today. Amazing technological advances came out of raw necessity during WWII.

My real job in the Navy was to convert "tube" navigational equipment to transistors. Very happy that I didn’t have to convert that monster. I don’t think that the AT5 would have fit in our helicopters. Wonderful shot and share. Dana

Now here is piece of history! Just look at the size of it! Hugely unreliable, but when its all you had... Really great (and clear) shot.. Huge thanks for showing it.. :-) (I see you have a load I have to catch up on....and I'm not back for 3 days! GULP!) Take care Rob
