Used on many aircraft during WW2. As indicated on the card, this set was from a Bristol Beaufort torpedo bomber.

Amazing - time moves on. I did my apprenticeship in the Air Force on a ground based valve transceiver something like this. Now your mobile phone can do much more than this bit of history! Clive

Like Neil (neiwil), I always find this stuff fascinating. Looks a lot more complicated than today's kit. All the functions of this radio would easily fit within a box the size of a small book today. Amazing technological advances came out of raw necessity during WWII.

My real job in the Navy was to convert "tube" navigational equipment to transistors. Very happy that I didn’t have to convert that monster. I don’t think that the AT5 would have fit in our helicopters. Wonderful shot and share. Dana
