Description
As it often happens, the town eats away big morcels of countryside every year. So this part of the town, only thirty years ago at the very outskirts, now it has been engulfed by the urban spread. I was going to buy some reams for my computer printer when I had to stop the car at this railway crossing, leading to Padova station. And I didn't miss the chance for one shot or two at the billboard sporting the ad of a fashionable underwear brand, put in a strategic position, just in front of a crossing crossed by countless commuters every day.
Thanks for your kind comments.

La pubblicità è ormai molto invasiva e spesso a sproposito !Speriamo la gente non guardi la pubblicita' mentre arriva il treno !

Great photo here Sandra, and that billboard is sure to attract a lot of attention considering the location and how dynamic it is. As for the way cities spread into the countryside it is a bit sad to see as for myself it is more important to see the country remain untouched.

With the continued unchecked advances in human population crowding out the countryside, can a correction action be very far in our future? Makes me think of some of those old post apacolyptic movies from the 50's and 60's where only small segments of humanity remain and nature begins to reclaim her own. Oh, BTW, sorry for my morose musings. This is a most fantastic capture and great distraction!

What a shot! I also noticed something invasive. NOT the ad itself--it's rather nice, and quite European. No, I noticed the CBS logo on the billboard frame itself! CBS, with that creepy eye logo? In Italy? WOW! Okay and so now that I'm done with that rant on US-American media companies, sprawling around the globe, like a great, big, slightly dirty city sprawling out into virgin countryside, I can now concentrate on this photo. I like it quite a lot and I've been growing more and more interested in urban stuff like this. The colors are superb, and there's a playful quality to the image that I like. It's so vivid. The POV is interesting and playful too...the flashing railroad light looks as if it's a part of the advertisement. I laughed at that thought. As always, I enjoyed reading what you wrote as well. I love your posts because they're visually stunning, and there's always some interesting thought conveyed in the text. Great work.

Stunning capture and a poignant statement about the state of the human mind and condition. Sad really.

Well captured. an audience trapped. They allow racier billboards in your area than mine. The bodies are all in advertising, but not as much in billboards here. Some places here have advertising on the back of bathroom stall doors, so you read them while you are in there. another captive audience. Funny how we read everything we see... if we are able. Information overload at times.

ATTENTION! A big red light. And there are the ladies. Inspired placement. When I was a small boy the San Fernando Valley, over the hill from Los Angeles, was almost nothing but gently rolling hills. Today it is one big urban area. Spmeday I think the entire earth will be covered in conrete.

What positioning of the billboard! Your enforced stop and quick reaction has produced a great capture.

I hope people can see the red light in time. Great shot!!!
