Years ago I had a friend who bred and raised Pitbulls.I used his male dog as a pillow when I would lie on the floor and watch t.v.!!!I was always around a large number of Pits, and never once had a problem with any of them. A Pitbull is like any other dog,if you raise them to be vicious, then that's what they'll be. Great image and statement!!!

They say the same about Rottys and that they are dangerous maybe instead of putting all this type of breed down in some countries if they gave the owners some sort of training session on how to bring them up, train them etc properly instead of just giving them to anyone they would not have such a bad name. Also my friend she had Rotties but shje knew what do do with them and she said they are the most loveable dogs going. I know your picture is about pits but it all boils down to human fault some of this. The dog has pups and some owners can't wait to get rid but they should make sure the new owner knows what they are doing. We have a boisterouis springer spaniel when he goes off on one talking tro himself, growling and playing believe me he looks vicious if anyone abused him I'd punch them he is the most loveable dog going. I understand your passion over this but it all boils down to certain humans either doing it on purpose like the person said above or just not knowing and teaching them to play too rough or not training them. I blame humans not them. Sorry I'm babbling on! Cathy xoxoxo

Cathy, you are so right, I saw a Picture just the other day that said " The Monster is the Two legged one on the other end of the Leash" so true. We need education on this matter, and responseable owner ship. And no it is not just Pits, there are others that are judged because of bad owners

So True! It's only how a dog is treated, not their breed, that causes them to be either aggressive/vicious or placid/friendly. All the pitties that I've known are friendly & wouldn't hurt a fly. I've known of labradors, german shepards, blue cattle dogs, fox terriers & poodles that have attacked people, it all comes down to how the animal is treated by its owner. It's also up to the owner to ensure their pet has a secure yard to play in with plenty of distractions/toys on offer etc... By the way, love the pic - they look adorable :)

I had one. Never bit a soul, although I wouldn't have raised him with very small children. But then, I had my grandson living with us and he was jut crawling. My dog watched over him and my grand daughter like a hawk but preferred not to be touched by them...but let a stranger come near them and he would guard the kids with is life.

I'm really sorry about the pit bulls, as I know it is not the breed, but the owners who are responsible for their behavior. i hope the perception of this beautiful dog changes. Yours are beauties. CC

The motto I seen says it all, "Kill the Deed Not the Breed". I had a male red nose pit that was fawn brindle the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. My kids were small when I had him and let me tell you I couldn't have had a better protector for them, they layed on him and my daughter who was the youngest would pull his tail and ears and he would raise his head look at her then go back to sleep it was the funniest thing to see. I fought to not have them banned where I live and we lost and its a crying shame to have such a wonderful breed labeled as vicious just because people make them that way, any animal will turn mean if they are abused long enough and it needs to come to an end.

My son's pit lives with me part time. His best friend is the 6 year old boy who lives next door; they are best buddies!

It's sad how some of the despicable people have disgraced the breed. These people took the dogs protecting trait and turned it into something negative. Now most fear them. even some cities ban them. The problem is the people that own them and not the dogs. It makes me so angry. Animals start just fine, and people ruin them!

I agree! No dog is a monster... People who train them to be mean are monsters! I had neighbors with pitbulls, and those dogs, while stubborn when they thought I was blocking the stairs for them, were as sweet as can be. Common sense should prevail with the handlng of -any- animal!
