Wonderful choice of tones, the blue atmosphere makes it all even more subtil. Like these charachters are somewhere between beauty and grief -that is my vision of it:) Superb artwork, Ana, really.

I didn't know Koosie, but I have visited his gallery and I remember his wonderful pawns. Beautiful image and dedication for him. This is marvelous! When I first saw it, I thought of a pottery figurine by Helen Cordero called "Storyteller". There is a short biography of her here: http://www.nea.gov/honors/heritage/fellows/fellow.php?id=1986_03&type=bio And a picture of one of her storyteller figurines here: http://taosartschool.org/nat_geo_pueb_pottery/images/front.jpg I love your image! There is such a love of stories and of storytelling in it. I love the way everyone is circled around close, wanting to hear every word and catch every flavor of the story. I like the little face and hand, touching the book, and encircled in the arms of another eager listener. I like the face looking up at the storyteller. In the distance, I see more faces being drawn into the magic of the story. I love her smile. It seems to be sharing with someone the magic of the moment and the joy it gives her. With your dedication, I think she is smiling to Koosie and saying that he and his stories are still alive in those who remember them. Like Helen Cordero, remembering her grandfather, you are remembering Koosie, and wherever he is, he is also here, in your work. There is much love and connection in this image, and a joy of words, of stories, and of sharing. This is beautiful! And so emotionally expressive, like all your work.
