Description
Commonly refered to as "Little Friends" by bomber crews, the P-51d Mustang became a legend in the skies over Europe. Flying escort for the bomber formations, the Mustang had excellent high altitude performance and handling, and was more than a match for German aircraft of the day...
Here a pair of P-51's buzz through a formation of B-17's on their way to Berlin in 1944 (note the Invasion stripes on the wings and fuselage and unpainted aluminum airframes... with the decline of the Luftwaffe as a fighting unit the U.S. Army Airforces dropped the camoflage commonly used at the time...)

Excellent render with lots going on! I love the P51-D, especially after it was made great by the addition of that British engine .... what was that one again? Excellent CSchell!

lmao... ty... and yes... the Rolls-Royce Merlin took what started as a mediocre aircraft at best and turned it into a legend of military aviation along with the Spitfire and Mosquito ;)
