Description

Mark's 12th birthday was getting close and all he wanted was a microscope. Not any ordinary one, he wanted the Zenith 5000 with the ability to be hooked up to a computer. Then his mom and dad asked him, "Mark what do you want for your birthday?" All excited he blurted out that he wanted the "Zenith 5000 microscope." "That's not a toy" his dad told him. "I know dad, but that's what I really want" telling his dad with his fingers crossed behind his back. That week was one of the longest of his young life. Then the big day arrived and Mark wasn't sure if was going to get his dream present or not. His mom and dad hadn't talked about it in front of Mark. It was his birthday finally. He jumped out of bed and got dresses and ran to get breakfast. He sat there watching his mother prepare breakfast, then to his dad as he read the morning paper. Mark felt disappointed, he thought that they had forgotten his birthday. Then his dad said to him, "So Mark today is your 12th birthday, what are you going to do today?" Mark just shrugged his shoulders not knowing what he was going to do. His dad, after finishing his breakfast, got up and got his lunch, kissed his mom and walked out the door to go to work. The day went by and Mark played outside collecting a bunch of things to look at if he got his microscope. Bugs, various plant stuff and some water from a pond that was in his neighborhood. His dad came home and Mark noticed that he wasn't carrying a his birthday present. Following him inside he felt disappointment set in as he knew that the microscope had to wait until next year. As they all sat in the living room hid dad got up walked into the other and came back with a bog box. Placing it in from of him and saying, "Happy Birthday Mark!" All excited he ripped through the wrapping paper and there it was a Zenith 5000 microscope. Not wanting to wait he asked his dad, "Can we set it up now?" When it was all set up went to work looking at all the things he had collected and was amazed at what he was seeing. Then he put a drop of water from the pond and put it on the slide. He leaned to see what was there he let out a scream. His dad jumped and asked Mark, "What's wrong, what are you looking at?" The only thing Mark could do is point his finger at the computer monitor. This is what they all saw and his dad told him, "Oh it just an alien living in there." Made from a shared parameter by Claude19, thank you man. Thanks for peeking and have a great night/day. I'm not much of a story teller and tried to see the situation from a 12 year old's point of view. Hope you liked it.

Cool tweak on Claude's parameter. Your story is great, reminds me of when i was young, but with a happier ending. I never did get the "must have or die" present I had been waiting for.
