Description

The Ground Agama I had been following eventually popped up from the shady side of the boulder and I got this shot of him while leaning with my body against the boulder. While I was reviewing the capture I heard an odd scrapping-shuffle sound. It was him running around to my left with the scales on his belly scraping on the rock. I kept still watching him as he came around my left side. Looking under my armpit I saw him get about two inches from me and stick his tongue out, as if tasting the air. As I tried to get a shot of this, the movement frightened him off and he disappeared. This time I let him be! They are about 20cm (8in) long and quite harmless to humans. Have a great day! Clive
