Description

Everything in this image is deliberate. I wanted to give voice to the feeling of intense loneliness which must have been felt by any remaining survivors from a long and arduous sortie over enemy lines. "How much longer must I endure this? Will I make it back to the field?" As you know I try to make all my pictures tell a story. Maybe some of you out there will understand what I am trying to say.

Of course we understand, Warren. Everything works in this posting. One can't help feeling the sense of loss and the mental and physical exhaustion of the pilots still grappling with the loss of friends or leaders of their unit.
