Description

The strongest man of his time, Milo lived at 6th century BC at the Greek city of Croton (modern Italy). He was six times Olympic victor at all kinds of wrestling. It is said that he led the men of Croton to battle without carying the traditional Greek dori (spear), but armed with a huge olive club like the mythical Hercules. When Crotonian soldiers used the traditional phalanx attack he crashes with his club the enemies, making room for the first rank spears of his army to devastate their opponents. ------------------------------------ If you 've read so far, many thanks for your patience. Excellent image of an ancient hero. I can almost hear the noise of battle. I recall the story well, though I read about him as a child during the late 1950s. Back in the ancient world a hero was a real hero, earning his position from personal acts of strength and/or wit. Something we lack in this day and age of mechanized warfare. Sadly, our age has very few heros (the mass media doesn't want us to have any). We need to get back to the classics, which is why your image is great! Keep up the good work! :-)
