Here's how I made the smoke in the thumb nail: In Photoshop, use the spray paint tool set at 25 pixels spatter. Loosely spray onto a layer. Then use Gaussian blur at radius 1.0. Make a new layer and repeat as many times as you wish. To make it more real looking, you can use the opacity slider in the layers window. When it looks just right, flatten the image.
(No. I'm not so enthused about special effects so I'd put a match to a model I've spent a week working on!)

I would hope to see a string of tracers streaming after this bird of prey from the cupola mounted machinegun of the KONK tank commander. That is unless he's still fumbling with his 50 cal or 12.3mm machinegun.
