I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

You all have the most interesting bugs over there! These might be pesky but they sure are lovely to look at...great capture! I'd call them zebra beetles!

Nice shot - I like the colors and your composition a lot.

I did a bit of a search Carin and it would seem to be one of the of the family Meloidae - Blister Beetles! Stay clear - they are brightly coloured for a reason! I like the compo of the snack-fest, Clive

Well, at least they are nicely photogenic so the Dahlia's might not like them but I do

They look to be enjoying this dahlia and I wonder what kind of bug they are too. Excellent capture.

Beautiful flower. The overall effect is superb. Here in the States people often gather in the parking lot of a stadium before a game to barbeque meats, drink beer and listen to loud music. These are known as 'tailgate parties' referring to the tailgates of pickup trucks used for holding and preparing food. It looks like these fellows are having a tailgate party of their own.

Thanks Clive for the research! Thank goodness Kayla wasn't with me at the time I took these shots. She would want to "mother" them and could have ended up screaming!!!

Nice photo!

What interesting critters. I've seen their cousins in Chicago. Different-sized spots are the only real distinction between these and the ones I saw (there's a photo of one in my gallery a few pages back.) I never really knew what they were, but like Kayla, I was interested in bringing a few of them home. I didn't, however. This is a super shot! I love the crisp clarity of it.

Excellent compo and 'nice' bugs!
