Description

The past sword-bearers turn up frequently in the Sorrows chronicles in two ways: Alex can communicate with them through Sorrows and he or the other Coven members might dream of them. Gottfried, pictured here, is important to the stories for a lot of reasons. He founded the town they live in, having come to the New World to settle land granted to him by the English crown for services rendered. And in the process of those services getting rendered--several decades of war against a demon princeling who wanted a chunk of Scotland for his hunting ground--in the process, his daughter, Frida was taken by the Princeling's servant...and Frida was Fechin's mother. Yep, this is Alex's 4-times great grandfather and Fechin's grandfather. Oh, yes, thereby hangs a lengthy tale of sorrow and betrayal. There's a good reason that Gottfried is smiling a bit sadly. Production notes: My M4 Enhanced character (not exactly Alex) with Raphael skin wearing the Kindred M4 outfit with the RenaPD texture; Age of Armor's Swashbuckler boots; Powerage Precious furniture and the rest of the set from Fabiana (Love poison drapes & Sage Babylon for the rest). I was just not up to painting his trousers properly; they would not have been that stretchy-snug (although I think Gottfried would like the look). His wife, Serena, says: "Liebling, those old boots look terrible with that coat. And your hair is messy. Please, let me comb it!" Gottfried: "I happen to like these boots, and my hair is *always* messy. I don't care, I'm going to wear them anyhow." Hey, when you're over 200 years old, your wardrobe can acquire some odd bits, and you don't care that much about fashion. So deal, as Alex would say.

The textures are great, particularly the curtains and the chair. It can be difficult to get hands to look natural and interesting at the same time. You have accomplished this. Nice job.

Holy crow-- I love this portrait. Smacks of the old world in style, posing and the smile does come across as sad and yet slightly amused-if wry? Fantastic work, doll. I look forward to more of these. XD
