Another b&w image for the almost-finished Galaxy Prime role playing game by James Shade. Like the other images I'm working on, I used Strata 3D to render the ship (which was available from the resources over at the Strata community site). The background is derived from NASA public domain imagery. In Photoshop, I used a combination of the threshold adjustment and some other filters and effects to layer the various renders to get these effects. I really wanted a retro vibe on this, and I'm mostly happy with it. I think the lens flare and the streaks are, in and of themselves, a little dated looking... but in the context that this is one of dozens of images that will be in the book, I think it works well.
