Born 1941. Yeah, I know, that's old. Live in Rome. Was raised in Buenos Aires, and still feel that as home. Work as a consultant in GIS (Geographical Information Systems). My hobby, or maybe my real profession, is South American history. My wife is a very well known (in her specialized world ) Roman archeologist. Our son is 30 years old, but hasn't decided to grow up yet. Deals in politics. We travel, at least an important travel each year.

This is one of those things you would really need to see in person...your shot makes me want to.

MY! This is baroque in the extremest sense. SO much that it is overwhelming! One scarcely sees the detail for the huge amount of it. At the same time, it's a very telling testament to the religious fervour of the people who designed it, those who built it and those who decorated it. I assume, from the name, it was Franciscans. Nice photo. We'll have to see your other photos to get an idea of the detail work and the rest of the church. Thanks for the post! Keep up the good work! :-)

Wow...at TRex said, it's a bit overwhelming!! There is so much to look at. Quite a testement to craftsmanship!! The ceiling is spectacular! However, I never see a church like this without thinking of all of the money that went into the church, while the people living around the church usually lived in squalor...I mean the church is beautiful, but some of the money could have been put to better uses. Either way, this is a stunning building!

It's certainly a WOW photograph but from what I know of the life of St Francis, totally inappropriate to his life and teaching!...for which I don't hold the photographer in any way responsible!!!
