Description

Tomorrow, March 8th, it's the Woman's Day here in Italy, and as a very old feminist, I can say that the situation is much better now than it was decades ago, but we still have a long way to walk. Especially in some places, where what we dub the basic rights are not even thought of. This ad of a concert and the tunnell-like porch near my condo is apt to comment the concept. Anyway, let's go on, and HAPPY WOMAN'S DAY TO US ALL!! Thank you for your kind comments.

March 8 was the 100th observance of International Women's Day. The great bastion of democracy, the United States, finally gave women the right to vote in 1920 following most of Europe. The struggle continues.

Fine capture! For the women! Still many places in the world women are treated as second class humans - or even hardly as that - some fascist-patriarch countries which suppress women under a religious yoke! From a man called Rhanagaz.

Nice composition. Sadly enough there is still a lot of work to be done, not only in Italy.

It takes so long to achieve what will obviously be, and the way has been so torturous, why? Facts be known - it is every day - "Women's Day". Kudos to you!

"I long to hear that you have declared an independency. And, by the way, in the new code of laws which I suppose it will be necessary for you to make, I desire you would remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors. "Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands. "Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation." (Abigail Adams in a letter to John Adams March 31, 1776.) Abigail and John Adams are two of my favorite people of American history, though, John didn't acquit himself very well in this instance. Wonderful image and narrative. It is very discouraging how far we still have to go and how often hard fought gains are lost. It is a long road and still a very dark one in many parts of the world.
