Description

Captured 6/12/10, at the Centennial Aviation Day celebration held on the grounds of the beautiful Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum in Carson, California. Much better viewed full size. Ah yes, the good old days, when men were men and women were women, and people liked it better that way. Depicted are dancers, preparing, socializing and waiting for their performance on stage. OMG, I love this stuff. People were so kind, proper and genteel back then. I was but a mere child at that time but do vaguely recall images of similar people, clad in their finest apparel, participating in this joyous activity. On stage, this group, so happy and jolly, did a medley of dances popular for that era, including the Cake Walk, the Merry Widow Waltz, and stuff I don't remember at the moment. And far better than what passes for music nowadays. They put on a total of three performances during the day. There is a collage showing them dancing that I posted in my gallery back on June 30, 2010. I have more on tap that I'll show in the future. And, Andrea might try creating one, or more, of these ladies' hats in her millinery class. So long for now, thankx for dropping by, and for any and all favs and laudatory comments.

I can not claim that writing this: a succession of beautiful scenes worthy of an Impressionist MANET! especially the first picture ... do not be sad friend, even then, we did not see things the same way that 50 years ago ...

There is a lady in my class who makes her living making and selling hats and clothes similar to these to British people obsessed with the Wild West. She and her husband have spent their entire lives do re-enactments!

Very beautiful captures of this time in our history. I love the dresses but I'm really glad I don't have to wear them now.

We remember these days in a very nostalgic way. But my question is...were the good ole days really that good? You and I would probably have kicked the can a couple of years ago. People died from all sorts of maladies that we don't concern ourself with today. My mother died at age 36 from TB... Dentists had slow drills. Cars wore out at 75-80,000 miles. Just a few examples:-) As for your photos...cool...colorful and fun to view.
