Detail of rover technology designed for EOS Mars Program: http://www.eosmarsprogram.org/ The motive power is diesel-electric. Each wheel is driven by its own electric motor, which in turn is powered by a generator fuelled by liquid methane and compressed air. These fuels are derived from water-ice, and carbon dioxide from the polar 'dry' ice deposits, or extracted from the atmosphere, so providing convenient, transportable, energy supplies, augmented with solar power.
