Description
roofing is being laid... the building is a good example of Russian Modern of the early 20th century. used to be a movie house in the 80s. since then has been used for different purposes.

It's fascinating to see the decorations. There is an art nouveau influence, everything just a little different from what I'm used to, but equally elegant and beautiful. Love the strip of egg-and-dart. The roofer does give this the feel of watching a movie. Wonderful image!

This has elegant, almost delicate, design elements. I would have thought the building would be pre-Soviet. Here in the United States when we saw examples of Soviet architecture they were either like the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, known as 'the Wedding Cake', or very futuristic designs like the old Friendship Hotel in the Ukraine. You really have an outstanding photgrapher's eye. It does look like a movie. Perhaps a documentary on roofing.
