Description
The top panel (a screenshot) shows you what appeared on the screen when I started up the other day - and again today.
The first time it happened I immediately restarted and managed to load the OS installer, which has a hardware test on it. The hardware test (extended - 3 hour run) said everything was fine; all tests passed - logic board, mass storage, ram, video ram - all passed.
And then everything looked normal again.
The lower picture (which is a screenshot of the desktop) shows what happened on another occasion - patches all over. (I've added Mogbot afterwards, for a bit of extra effect ...)
Restarting (sometimes more than once) cured the problem for a while; and then it happened again today.
I still have to erase the main drive (where Poser is refusing to start - for no known reason) and reinstall everything, but I'm waiting for a new external drive to store my files before I erase the disc. I can't reinstall Poser from the DVD because the installer on it is damaged, apparently, but I can clone it from my original backup drive. The drive should get here tomorrow, so Amazon say, and they're usually very fast.
A friend of mine suggested the screen problem might be a fault in the monitor (Apple Cinema Display); do any of you have any ideas on what might be causing this?

You 're there an unfortunate victim of a Trojan horse , if you feel you can no longer act . Must RE - format the C drive if you have a bootable DVD of Windows with your setup ... what some programs save as 4PROMT ' you can do ... if so ... remember to install the DVD ... FRONT; ; ; turn on your computer ... and see if the program does not ask you to repair XP ... it happened to me once and ... one hour after everything was reinstalled ... unlike what the rumor said , you need an antivirus in the background , but one or two others to check that nothing has happened . Good luck my friend .

Hi, Shaun - I quite understand this is very frustrating. I don't know very much of Mac's, men if you could borrow a Mac compatible screen you of course could check this is OK or not. Only a suggestion, I think of you video card - a possibility that something is not quite well with it? Hope you get your problems solved soon. Best wishes Rhanagaz

I don't know anything about Apples but it could be a video driver if the monitor is not bad and the graphic card test out ok. Bugger! Good luck.

Hey, and sorry for your troubles....I don't know much about Mac's, but I will say that before you go into harsh measure by formating hard drives and stuff, you first start with simple things like trying to change the monitor for a known good one and the cables for it....Your going to have to do a little troubleshooting, work your way back from the monitor to the computer. And if all else fails take it in for maintence....the problem maybe a simple one...lets hope.....hpoe you solve the problem soon!...
