Description

BEST VIEWED LARGE Confederate Cavalry Preparing to mount a charge on the advancing Yankee troops. ( as it would have looked from 1861 to 1865 ) It was called the Civil War because commissioners from both the North and The South met under a flag of truce and laid down rules as to how the war was to be fought. so, the 'rebs' are getting ready to charge!! Hope the Union soldiers are ready for it! I really like these pictures you're posting! Especially in black and white as it gives them that 'old' feeling and look. Very nice!

I think that came later...at the time, it was called, variously, 'The Rebellion', 'The War of Yankee Agression', and afterwards, 'the Recent Unpleasantness' (no foolin'...;) Great pic. One general said that with Southern Cavalry and Northern Infantry they could lick any army on Earth.

Fine photo shot! Rules during a war? Not nowadays, civilized behavior disappears quickly when the war goes on. War is a weird reminiscent of old ages but maybe never goes completely out of "fashion", as new dictators still arrive. :o(

'Civil'? given the body count it a good job they weren't un-civil :-) I'd never heard about this either, amazing what you can learn on Rendo.An amazing photo too, love re-enactments...they are far more civil..
