Description
They are part of a belt line that runs around the city. These track come off a small classification yard run north then head west and meander through the industrial section like steel snake. They were the life line of the city 100 years ago as they made stops along the way to various industries that at one time were the life of the city. The building to the left was at onetime the largest jam making facility in the city. You can see where there was a siding at one time and the three unloading docks. Fruit picked from all over the Provence ended up her to be washed, mashed, skinned, boiled, run down a packing line and stuffed into jars and boxes and sent all over the city, Provence & country.
But time and tide change, technology advances and better methods are devised to product things for social needs. The place went out of business, the siding was torn up and today this place is now center for Goodwill, a depository for others items cast off.
So they are tracks that go somewhere and perhaps to the unknowing eye perhaps no where.....
..thanks for the peek
