Hi there! My name is Victoria, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California (but live elsewhere now). I first became interested in computer graphics some time circa 1995 when my dad gave me this CD package of some new, up-and-coming computer software at the time which included Aldus Photostyler and KAI PowerTools. I went home that day and created some silly little piece and after that I was totally hooked. A few years later a friend introduced me to Photoshop, and it was love at first sight. Since then I have been teaching myself all things Photoshop. About two years ago I came across an ad in a magazine for DAZ Studio. I had always been a little intimidated by 3D graphics, thinking it was way too hard to do, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. Now I'm equally obsessed (if not more so) with all things 3D as well.Â
My art is a mixture of DAZ Studio, Poser, Photoshop CS5 and Filter Forge. My other tools of the trade include Hexagon, Silo, ZBrush and Vue, and I also do black & white digital photography and photo restoration on the side. I am a huge fan of classic artists like Salvador Dali, Calder and Leonardo da Vinci, but am also strongly influenced and inspired by the works of contemporaries like Jack Pedota, David Ho, Luis Royo, Olivia and many of my fellow Renderosity artists who continue to inspire me on a daily basis.
I have several college degrees including a BA in English Writing, a BA in Anthropology, and an MS in Evolutionary Ecology (a subdiscipline of Anthropology).I think my ultimate goal with my graphics - what I really hope to get out of all of this - is to create something truly beautiful one day that either someone will deeply appreciate in their heart or that will inspire someone to create something beautiful. Thanks for stopping by . . . and happy rendering!V.

Hmmmm... those IDL packs... I really haven't tried them... I stick with my tried and true IBL light sets...mainly because the bleached skin areas don't always occur... I'm not knocking the packs... just saying I haven't tried them. But... I do like the light distribution they give. Oh and the see trough shadows of her top... are superb!

I have always been told to take care of lighting and you are the expert on conventional lighting and know that you can take hours on lighting in a scene and just a couple of seconds to open and close the shutter! lol I think this work is very attractive indeed and if I had Poser 8 I would buy that IDL light set. Well done!

When I first started with Daz I found lights mystifing and troublesome. The are still trouble but definitley rewarding to the final render. I would say your experiment was quite successful.

I also came to 3D from photography. Once you get the differences ironed out in your head then it's surprising how many techniques carry over. Fine looking render too

Wow, I love the soft white light in this image, and how it plays a perfect harmony with the soft flow of her hair. Your skills at setting up a photoshoot are well evident here. It is amazing how light plays such a strong role and how so many people spend so little time working it out. I go back and try to photoshop my old images but there is no way you can retrofit crappy lighting. The foundations of color depth and richness are largely locked in with the original light set.
