Description

The big parade, with bagpipers and drummers galore. Captured 5/29/10, at the beautiful Orange County Fair & Event Center in beautiful, but financially troubled, Costa Mesa, California. Better viewed full size. To be accurate, it was the United Scottish Society's Highland Games & Gathering's Scottish Festival of Celtic Entertainment & Food. Just one of a dozen big events I attended last year. Since I attended the event back in May, I feel it's about time I posted some of the over 550 fotos I snapped at this gathering. This is way overdue. I took 95 pics of the parade itself, and a surprising 115 shots just of the bagpipers themselves practicing their musical talents before and after the parade. They even had an auto show, featuring British cars, at the event. Of course, the ubiquitous vendors were there also, hawking their wares. And you can imagine all the elbowing and ninja work I had to do to get decent photo vantage points. I suspect that some of you may be involved, or have friends and relatives, who are into Scottish lore, bagpipes, drums, the Highland Fling, etc. I'm not of Scottish heritage myself, but I love this kind of stuff with all the tartan and musical splendor, and will take advantage of the opportunity to record it as long as it's not that far away. Toodles, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

You've outdone yourself with this collage, Harry. These are outstanding. Can't believe they have been sitting on your computer so long. Hope to see more soon.

Oh, wonderful shots! I love all things Scots, especially bagpipes and kilts...not my heritage either, but I wish it was! Well done, Harry!

Looks hot and dusty...but a fine five image collage nonetheless. It is part of my heritage...I can claim to be of both Scots-Irish and Scottish forebearers.

Fantastic collage, there is a lot of movement on every shot. It must have been quite loud there.

Cooooooool! The sounds of the pipes and drums! I love that.. I remember being taken to the Royal Tournament, at Earls Court, London, when it used to be the proper thing! The massed bands were 300 strong and the noise! Never forget that.... That and my Grandfather standing to salute the Royal Horse Artillery as they did their show.. He used to be in it.. Great collage Harry.. Rob

Beautiful collage and individual photos Harry! I thought that the littlest drummer in #4 was cute. Dana
