Description

We all must cross it someday. What awaits on the other side, none among the living can say for sure. For those that cross, it is said there is no more pain, no sadness, only love, light, and joy. In that, I suppose we on the other side can take some comfort. Today is a rather sad day, thus this reflective post. Last evening my mother-in-law passed out, and fell. After a trip to the hospital, and the usual X-rays, CAT scans, etc, it was determined that no damage was done, aside from a little soreness. During her follow-up visit to her doctor today, she learned that the x-ray revealed that the cancer in both lungs she has been fighting for the last 5 years has spread. She does not have long, she was told. She was not surprised by this news - she saw her husband go through the same thing. She is a brave, strong lady. We do not yet know how long "not long" is. When they told my father-in-law that in June 2005, he lasted until January of 2006. At any rate, I just wanted to let everyone know, if I'm not around much, or if I'm late commenting on your wonderful art, the reason why. I will still try to post as much as I can, and stay as active as possible. The interaction with all my friends on this site, and creating art are one of the things that keep me sane. Thank you all for your support and friendship. And be sure to tell someone close to you that you love them.

This is a gorgeous image with a touching note behind it. My thoughts are definitely with you and your family. As for the image itself, it's deliciously contemplative and quite a nice celebration of life itself...the lush greenery, the calmness of the overall image: it's all perfectly balanced. Really thoughtful, marvelous work.

my Mother died from lung cancer... after being diagnose, opperated on, she made it a year and a half.... the doctors said a year was all that lung cancer patience usually last.... 5 years - wow.... it was ten years ago that she passed last month, still feels like it was just yesterday. Your post is a great way to put things into perspective.

Five years is a long time to have fought that disease and so, sad as it is, one has to simply admire her courage and resiliance for not giving in to it sooner.

Holy crap, today is nothing but bad news it seems! I'ma hide in the basement and wear a helmet I think! As to your last comment, I think being excellent to each other is the most important (and valuable) thing we can do, period.

Quite a powerful image that will touch one's soft spot. It reminds us that there will be a day, someday when we will walk that path to see the other side. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Rod I am so sad to hear the news my friend.. My thoughts and prayers for you, your wife and her mom, It is never nice to receive this sort of news but the one good thing is she has time to sort out her affairs unlike someone that dies in a accident or is murdered. At least you have time to spend time with her.. We will all be here for you Rod, and you need to be with family first.. Take it each day at a time my friend.. Beautiful capture also BTW.. Barry

The last road and the last bridge to pass... we don't know what's at the end of the road however we live, one day we will be there standing, think of our lives we lived good as well as bad we had done you can never go home any more so think of whom you love and care for and love them before the curtain falls enjoy your life and do what you wish to be remembered for.... love and caring thoughts is the most valuable we can give in life to others.... What a lovely photo, Rod. I am so sorry for the news! I will be thinking and praying for you and your family. I know it is always difficult at the end with these sorts of things, and I know you will treasure each moment you have. Remember this is a door to something greater for her, even though you will miss her, I know when the time comes.
