Description

This is for Mark (anahata.c), a true artist and all around good guy who has always been very supportive of my work here on Renderosity. he has been going through some rough times lately, and I figure he could use a little bit of peace and beauty. This is a picture of one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I know: Casperson Beach in Venice, Florida. Photographed near my parent's house on January 21, 2008. HAPPY BIRTHDAY< Mark!

I love the lunar reference here, and so I can assume that you're facing the Sea of Tranquility? I like this image and there's something about the bird flying by. Birds make such good models and you caught this one perfectly and it's a nice dedication too! This really rocks. Great stuff. The space reference is funny too, especially since...um...I've been away. Great stuff here.

there is a real sense of tranquility to this shot, from the colors to the soaring birds.

Among the differences between your photography and mine (aside from the fact that you've been doing it for years longer & have a much broader sense of the art than I do) it's what some have called your almost perfect sense of the moment, the way of just getting the angle & light, etc, so that we feel as if you caught it for the first time in history. For a lot of photographers, this angle would seem "artsy" (from me, it would be intolerable, trust me, like "cool, Mark! Gee, you're an artist, thanks for letting us know!"). But these angles never are anything but organic from you, I mean never. I have no idea how you do it. But it's also a beautiful & tranquil image of water---like Lake Michigan, one of my favorite spots on earth---and of birds (as Chip pointed out), and the beautiful confluence of blues and cosmic yellows & pinks that only waterscapes can produce. And it's in Florida---which is where I was when you posted this. Thank you so much, Corey, you'd graced me before with your kindness & beautiful art, you graced me again with this. You know, it was so strange to wake up 3 days after my father passed, to the splendid warmth & saturated light of a sunny Florida day and know that my father had just passed. It was the first day of spring and it was exquisite out. Of all the images posted for me during my father's illness & passing, this was the one closest to what I saw everyday, back then. You continue to just follow your muse, post what you see & feel, letting your soul & eye be your guide, and gracing it with your unflagging love & constant fine & subtle humor. This is a quintessential "Corey" image, beautiful and classic but fresh as it gets, with real unencumbered beauty. You came through a lot the last year, and yet you continued to post so much play & beauty. This was beautiful image for the day, and uplifting at a time when I was sinking through the earth. Your kindness meant more than you can know. Many thanks, for then & for now. (Oh---I like that you named it after a spot on the moon! I was walking on the moon that day! But it's also named after tranquility, and that's what was seeking all the time back then...)
