Description

Ultra Fractal 5.04 with seven-layers used (though I'm lost to know what they are all a'doing). This came about through a touch of curiosity. David Cherry has recently updated his set of public formulas. Sadly, I don't remember previously looking at his formulas and a quick inspection suggested they are a rather forceful lot as is evidenced here. The underlying 8 x 8 boxed construction is an inherent feature of this formula so it was a matter of what could be done within that framework. Simplicity makes complexity bearable and hence the limited colouring used. The squarish theme was also mitigated by the insertion of the stray square and the tiny triangle in the bottom right corner. These, when rendered, were a plain blue and grey which would probably have worked, but instead I decided on graduating the colouring in both with a little judicious encouragement from Painter 11.5. Thank you David. I'll try experimenting some more. Cliff.

Thanks for pointing me back to these formulas. Although I had played around a bit before, as I recall, nothing I did appealed to me. I have been trying to upload an image created with these formulas with no luck (I have contacted the admins). Anyway, I do love the simple complexity of your work. This one reminds me of a card my mother sent me for some occasion years ago... It had a picture of a tree with four owls sitting on branches and a fifth owl hanging upside down... the fifth owl was me! How ever did she find a card with five owls? She has five children. Keep doing your thing!
