There is a very sad tale associated with this Pub......something about the a man, who's name I can't remmember,(the Dirty Dick in question) but his betrothed and love of his life died on their wedding day and he is said to have lived out his day's on this very spot never washing or cleaning himself, also he is supposed to have left the house exactly as it had been laid out for their wedding until the day he died of a broken heart. Because of his terrible state he earned the name locally as Dirty Dick. I think the story also goes that many cat's moved in to the house over the years and I rememmber that when I was young I was told that this pub had the petrified remains of some of them hanging on the walls though if this was true I never found out....I lived farely local to this erea until I was 21 years old but never went into this Pub...'wish I had now! I'm not sure I like what they've done to the old place though....neon light's and all! Very evocative pic!

Thanks for the Story!! In the pub itself, I was able to find any "remnants". But it is rustic and reminiscent of Old England. The atmosphere is great.

English pubs have such great atmosphere. But the alcohol content of their beer is low. I prefer Belgian beer. Englisch Pubs habe so tolle Atmosphäre. Aber der Alkoholgehalt des Bieres ist gering. Ich bevorzuge belgisches Bier.

ein schönes bier am abend hätte ich nichts da gegen überhaupt in so einer kneipe noch mit irischermusik und das in england ,lach ,wunderschönes photo

Great shot, Juli! I have been there some years ago - but now it should be not so dirty anymore? That time i visited DD, there were actually hanging petrified cats around the place inside. British or Belgian beer? I also like the last one but it is a bit dangerous! ;o)
