two things come to my mind .. the first, sails .. ships with sails. In outer space, one needs massively large sails to power a ship, and if one must have sails, then they should be beautiful to behold, as these are. the other thing that occurred to me, is that even aliens must have some sort of satellites for communications from ships to planets to distant space stations, perhaps these are communication satellites, and again, if one must have these things in the skies, then shouldn't they also be beautiful to behold, as these are?
