Description
Yesterday, unfortunately, my Canon 70-300 has forsaken me, no longer able to focus on the subject (I did this morning to escape a group of about 15 ducks in flight). A real bad luck, if you think that has been put forward less than a year ago by Canon. I do not care for the photos, I'm done for several years, but I like the photo hunting (yesterday, for example, I spotted and photographed a stork in the fields Bozzano, two days ago a group of cranes), an interesting way to be outdoors to enjoy good air and the view.
At this point I decided to see if you find some good subject for macro photography, there was not much, but something starts to move and a small butterfly was good to get the picture.
Lycaenidae Polyommatinae Polyommatini
Celastrina argiolus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Holly Blue
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Holly Blue (Celastrina argiolus), is a butterfly that belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family and is native to Eurasia and North America.
In India, it is known as the Hill Hedge Blue
In Europe, the first generation feeds mainly on Holly (Ilex aquifolium) but the second generation uses a range of foodplant]
This species was originally described as Papilio argiolus by Linnaeus in 1758, and refers to the examples flying in Europe. In their monograph on the Lycaenopsis group of polyommatine genera, Eliot & Kawazoe, 1983, list 14 taxa as valid subspecies names, plus many further synonyms to which they accord lesser status. According to Eliot & Kawazoe, 1983, these 14 subspecies are divided into four groups .
