Description

For decades Bob Hope travelled the world at Christmastime entertaining troops stationed far from home. World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and on Bob brought his show to the remote reaches of the world and gave hundreds of thousands of troops a break from the ugliness of war. San Diego honors Bob with this display - here we see Bob telling jokes to men and women dressed in the many uniforms his audiences wore over the years. Enjoy

Ha ha ha! From this point of view, when I first looked at it, I thought it was a Civil War Memorial, Bob holding the mike looks like a soldier holding the ram rod for a muzzle loading cannon. Yes, I am so glad to see Bob memorialized. You know, everyone in show business that he gave a start to, says he called them asking for a favor. I think of all his attributes, personal humility was his best point, and one entertainers today severely lack. From my early childhood my two favorite entertainers remain, Bob Hope and Red Skelton. I would not be surprised to find someday, Bob is in Paradise today, making visits to hell to give aide and comfort. What a man. What a shot. It brings teas to my eyes to see it.

What a fantastic shot! I love the POV, and the shadows of those wonderful trees casting their intricate branches over it all really adds a tremendous amount of extra atmosphere. Bob Hope really was a national treasure and i was sad to see him go. It's too bad people can't live forever, but at least we still have him on film. Very nice work here.

Great tribute to a legend. I remember him from Christmas 1966 where he performed on hill 327, aka Freedom Hill at DaNang.
