Description

After the World Arts Council outlawed so called 'art critics' at the end of 2109 for their total lack of contribution to humanity (especially artists), It was decided that what the art world needed, was a total change of perspective. A handful of Andromeda IV AI's, who had shown an aptitude for observation were educated by the Neuro Super Computers in the history, theory and practices of all forms of art since time began. - 3mins 02 seconds later they knew all there was to know. A special gallery viewing was set up by the council at the World Tate in Washington DC, to showcase the acclaimed work of new artist, Herman Valasquez Smith, and to allow one particularly respected Andromeda individual, KK-PT1-07-02-b, (who preferred the name Carmen) to be the first ever AI critic. With much media frenzy, and bustling, eager art buyers present, Carmen was shown into the now famous Gallery 9 space, for her appraisel. After exactly 2 hours she exited the room, and headed straight for the main door. After standing silent and dumbfounded for a moment, members of the council, shrouded by the media, quickly followed Carmen as she descended the steps to the gallery courtyard below. Council member: "er.. Carmen.. excuse me... we..we just wanted to hear your considered and learned thoughts on Valasquez's work!?..." Carmen paused for a second and looked back at him with her high tech, purple glowing optics, and in her musical and husky sythesized tones, said: "The pigment, on a molecular level, is quite primitive, the canvas has flaws and inperfections that are quite pleasing in their randomness, and by the inflections in the brush strokes, I would say that the artist will have developed arthritis withing 5 years. she paused... "As to whether it's great art or not, is as beyond the realms of my opinion as it is yours!" the silence... was only broken, by the sound of two council members faces hitting the steps as they fainted.

I have to say the story and picture work together wonderfully. Even without the story it's like one man's art considering another. Both have substance and something of a soul, yet neither at the same time. This is art ;)

The additional texturing, reflection, and depth are extremely eye-catching.
And her point is well-made. One might wonder who will heed the message ...

Should have said in the blurb - this was rendered in Bryce 4, post blurring, colourisation, and noise added in Photoshop.

Fabulous, fabulous work. I'm so glad you did it in B&W, because the lighting is a character in itself, and might have been overshadowed by colour. Thank you for this wonderful posting.

it's excellent in many ways, i'd say! the control of everything is superb - lights, camera, distance blurring, the art on the walls, the subtle gesture - it all fits in to its designated place, in a "story" of a single shot.
