The old Dragon Lord crept into his study not making a sound. The Prince had been lured into his castle to rescue his friend whom the Dragon Lord had kidnapped for this purpose. 'Perhaps I shall have some sport with this young Prince,' thought the Dragon Lord, as he drew closer to his prey. 'Excited blood always tastes better than easily taken blood!' But, his old castle betrays him, as one of the floor timbers creaks under his real weight. You see, he was really a dragon disguised in human form, grotesque to the eye so as to frighten anyone that came near him. The Prince whirls around at the sound and faces the Dragon Lord. A fierce battle ensues. Many close calls and much expert and sometimes desparate sword play! Twice, it looks like the Prince has lost, only to dig deeply inside himself and escape just in the nick of time. The the Dragon Lord is no less blessed for he escapes several of the Prince's fierce charges and counter charges and continues the battle with unrelenting persistance. The Prince is starting to weaken for this fight has gone on for several hours. Both he and the old Dragon Lord are showing fatigue, but the Dragon Lord seems to be getting the better of the Prince. A sudden charge by the Dragon Lord and it should all be over. The Prince awaits. The Dragon Lord lets out a blood curdling scream and makes his charge on the Prince. In a desperation move perhaps guided by the heavens, the young Prince miraculously jumps and spins out of the way of the oncomeing charge! Sword at the ready, steady nerves and a strong will, the Prince thrusts his rapier with all his strength, just as the Dragon Lord comes rushing by. Bulls eye! The Prince's rapier has found its mark and penetrates the Dragon Lord's heart, where it becomes lodged, never to be removed by human hands. The Dragon Lord doesn't realize his fate at first and whirls in a rage to charge the Prince once more, but the wound is fatal. Before he takes two steps, he falls flat on the floor at the foot of the Prince, where his body returns to its original shape, that of a very huge old dragon. As to the Prince's friend, he finds him down in the Dragon Lord's dungeon. He hasn't been treated very well but is thankful to still be alive.
