She is called " TELESIS " Greek for "planned progress". She started life as a canaler, trudging up and down the lakes dropping off cargoes where the larger ship's could not go. She was under the flag of one owner her entire working life doing her solemn duty and doing it well. Then came the change, were ships of her size & class were no longer needed, mothballed and laid up, some sold overseas, others sent to the wreckers yards and cut up and sent to the steel mills to be renewed as who knows what. but she stayed on the list ever growing smaller until the day arrived where she was towed from her layup berth to some strange port and tied off to a dock. Men came aboard her clamored over her, in side & out, made measurements, then cut and changed her, reshaping her to something new and different. When she emerged from the hands of the people who owned her she was reborn as a gas drilling rig able to be towed out into the lakes and drill for natural gas. She had a very tall tower amidships and a helicopter landing pad over her stack. As a gas drilling rig she was unique to the lakes in her new livery & design and she serve well drilling deep into the lake beds and with drawing the much needed rescourse's used by people to keep them warm in the cold bitter winter months on the lakes.......thanks for the peek
