Description
The idea for this piece actually came from a book I read back in 5th grade... I think it was called "Unicorn Chronicles" or something like that. One of the many stories in that book was about a man with a sick young daughter. He believed only the power of a unicorn horn could save her so he took her out into the forest to find a unicorn. While he was searching, the unicorn found her and knelt down to heal her. The man sees this and thinks the unicorn is going to attack his daughter so he shoots it with an arrow. The unicorn, surprised, then impales the young girl. If I remember right, the girl survives and has magical powers due to the small bit of horn left behind in her chest.

Nice work in the depiction, beautifully posed. Bit of a dark tale for 5th graders though. But than again, I've being told really horrible stories about Christmas and a vengeful Santa.
