Description

The photo on the left is the original photo straight out of the camera. Although I liked the shot, because of shooting into the sun it darkened the foreground a little more than I liked. I recently upgraded to Photoshop CS5 and found a wonderful image adjustment called "HDR Toning". You'll find it under "Image" - "adjustments" - "HDR Toning", just below "shadow highlights". Once you open a photo and bring up the HDR Toning app, you will see a "preset" menu (try out the whole menu to see the effects, some of them are very nice, I like the monochromatic and surrealistic presets). To really get the most out of your photo you will want to play with the custom settings. First you have Method: There are 4 options, but with "Highlight Compression" and "Equalize Histogram" there are no additional options. With "Exposure and Gamma" you are limited to the two sliders only. So to get the most out of your photo you will want to use the "Local Adaptation" method. Once you are in Local Adaptation you can adjust Edge Glow, Tone and Detail, and Color. You will want to play with these sliders, adjusting to suit your needs and you will be amazed at the things that will pop out at you. So now, without all the time and effort of traditional HDR, you can pull out the best elements of your photo in a fraction of the time. I hope this has been somewhat helpful, although not meant as a full tutorial, just an example of a fun new way of photo manipulation! Thanks for viewing and get out there and play! LOL ;-)

I like both shot but I would have aimed between the two this HDR stuff is great but very easy to overdo. Having said that it is a great shot.
