Description

I watched about 10 pairs of Avocets scraping about on this island. They lay their eggs in a shallow depression on the ground. The 4 Black headeded Gulls dropped in the centre driving off most of the Avocets. They screamed so loudly at their success, they nest on a nearby pond. One Avocet tried to stand tall ( seen in the "I'm big" pose )and look mean but the Gulls ignored the idle threat.

A wonderful capture and the Avocets look rather nice. I don't think I have seen them before. I like the one trying to be brave.
