This was one of my entries to the Enchanted Doll contest. This was definitely a cool experience and hope to enter the next one. The contest has inspired me to keep doing more art projects. Let me know what you think. Cassey, the main female character of my own original short story, is the inspiration for this doll design. In the story, Cassey (short for Cassandra) is miserable in her life and wishes for death. She meets this mysterious man and he shows her a world that she couldn't even imagine, full of mystery, seduction and danger; elements that I've tried to incorporate into this art piece. Images, such as the water tower, trees, the moon and even a small creature lurking behind, give clues in regards to her journey with this man. The abstract lace design dress that Cassey is wearing was created in pen, then manipulated in Photoshop, and is mentioned in the story: “I washed up and put on the gown, it fit me like a silk glove. Seeing my reflection in the long mirror, I could barely recognize myself. I felt so out of my element dressed in this way.” Her relaxed pose was inspired in part by Bernini’s Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. Along Cassey‘s journey she experiences moments of pleasure and pain that merge together to awaken within her feelings of love, fear and hope. Sometime through turmoil one can find the resolution to keep living.
