Description

It is interesting how simple objects can combine to make striking displays. This is in a hotel in Wisconsin. Several years ago I attended a shareholders meeting for Kohl's department stores. I was there employee representative and it was fascinating to be on the opposite side of the lake that I was born on. This is the hotel bar in the early morning ready for the nights frivolity Having now been in California for 20 plus years I was shocked to see people smoking in the bar and hotel!! I liked the light on the glasses and color of the bottles. I discovered this as we were leaving. I would have loved to have spent the day taking photos, but had to leave.

Great shot. I especially love the shadow of the awning.

WOW - this appears just so astonishingly simple - but is quite magical, especially with this sort of lighting - (anyway better, than a room full of drunks) Somehow, this messes with my head, those 3 round tables (?) against the bar, but looking out - can't quite figure out the set-up, but that doesn't take away from your fine shot, Greg BB glad to see, you are posting again!

Beautiful shot, it's amazing the things simple glass shapes can do with light, isn't it? It takes a good eye to notice something like this in the mundane day-to-day life and stop to capture it. Great photo!

There is something magical in an empty bar, lights low and glass sparkling on organized shelves. Maybe because my dad built a bar in our basement when I was a kid and the rich warm polished oak that spanned one entire end of the room gave off a feeling of friendship, and good welcome to me. It was a place where every weekend our neighbors, friends and relatives would gather to listen to the old stand up record player spin 78s while cigarette smoke drifted towards the ceiling vents overhead, and my dad played bartender and host with ease. The memories of those decanters, organized drink glasses and well-placed lighted bar novelties are some of my very best memories growing up. I adore this photo and you have used the perfect angle and postwork.

A super capture of this array of glassware, yes it would shock me too to see people smoking in a bar. We have had a ban for years too.

Something about glass and light that grabs the eye. I especially like the bottom shelf. Like terra cotta warriors lined up and ready for battle. Terrific image.
