An avid photographer; artist in acrylics, pen & inks, pencil; sculpter in clay; computer graphics & photo-manipulation; (totaly adicted) Love looking at the works of other artists & especialy artists on this site.BIOHave been painting & drawing since the year dot, sold my first work at age nine, (Christmas cards) haven't sold much since. Have owned a camera since age fifteen and been taking photos ever since, mostly of the "snap shot" type but I also have a large collection of excellent nature photos, (macros, flowers & gardens, frogs, birds & the occasional snake) I'm an "elderly" (in body only) grandmother, living in paradise (Cairns Australia) with a husband and a dog. (plus any number of frogs, gheckos, lizards, birds, butterflies and the occasional snake) What else can I say? I'm young at heart and refuse to believe that the person in the mirror has anything to do with the person who is "Me" ***UPDATE*** April 12 05. I'd like to add a bit about my qualifications as a critic. While I'm still (& always will be) a student, I have also been an art teacher for over twenty years, I have been an active member of several Art Societies & Photograpgic Societies, a Gallery Director/Art Buyer for a private gallery, owner and manager of my own gallery, selector and pre-selector for an annual art prize. (often valued at over Au$20,000.) That should be enough to be going on with. I'm often facetious, not often serious and occassionly suffer with foot-in-mouth desease. (All of which I feel I'm entitled to having survived 66 years so far) ;-) Leonie.

I could never have anticipated this! WOW!

Thanks for your feed-back folks. :-) I was quite amazed when I saw the ants carrying off the guppy. 5 minutes later they had moved it about 8-9 inches. They can walk out onto the pool via the floating plants. I have no idea if they killed the guppy or just found it dead already. We have big spiders that do kill the fish, so maybe the ants were cleaning up after the spider. Nature is so fascinating.

Wow! Green ants! And big spiders that kill fish? Uh oh! But what interesting subjects they make...

Who needs science fiction when you have insects and arachnids!? Actually the best science fiction comes from insects and arachnids, and this image is living (and dead) proof of that. Actually since guppies are kinda small, I can imagine that it wouldn't be impossible for spiders to kill them, and ants...well...they're little/cute marvels in and of themselves. They're actually responsible for the spread of the Sahara Desert and so it's no surprise that an interestingly colored breed of them would color a guppy. This is an amazing image and I've never even heard of this ant species! WOW! I'm impressed.
