1640-1904 a canal...
Since 2000 water returned..
Some wondered what local government had against boats...
well.. cars were concidered more important.. so everything was done for cars, low bridges (never to be opened.. as that is waiting time) and closed canals.
Until the city came to realise that a city without water is a city without soul..
But to undo all mistakes from the past costs sooooo much...
The church is the New Church, build mid 17th century as first Protestant church in the city, second in the country. The building style is a rare mix of Classicism (buildingstyle of the protestants) and Baroque (buildingstyle of the Roman Cathlics)
It is the warmest spring ever recorded in NL. 25 celcius and not a real cloud in the skies for over a week now. They expect this unique spring to last for several more days
