Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Stunning capture my friend. That is freezing temperatures.

LOL! I'm laughing instead of just crying. Here in Seattle's history pioneers wrote home to their kin in the east, "There's NO WINTER!" Joyous, they expected normal results with seasons passing. 6 months later they wrote, "There's no Summer either." We all have something to shoulder. "This place is only suitable for ducks and slugs." Another famous quote.

Hey, it's been a bit warmer in Siberia. Of course, Siberia is also melting...they're finding wooly mammoths that had been frozen in permafrost for zillions of years (okay, not zillions, but still) only to float downstream or start stinking in fetid, fly-riddled mud in the 21st Century. I suspect we got Siberia's cold weather, so maybe the Chicago winter has just decided to replace the infamous Russian one. But I'm rambling...what a shot! And I love the joke, especially being of that particular pagan persuasion, it's always fun to hear about pagan mammaries. My question is a simple one in regard to that: Who went around measuring the temperature of witch titties? Anyway, enough rambling. I like this shot and it reminds me of why places other than Chicago are always so darn appealing.

-17 degrees Celsius is quite chilly even by my standards - how do you guys cope with such extremes? I suppose no-one could call your Chicago weather boring though! Chatting to a friend who lives in Texas close to the Mexican border today - they had 90 F there today.....

That shot makes me glad we live in Florida. Even tho we have had to turn on our air conditioning which usually doesn't happen until May. Nice shot Corey and we love the commentery.

At least it's warmer today! Yesterday it was cool and rainy, but well above freezing, so I kept going and looking at pictures of snow and such to keep my spirits up. Amazing how well it works, and how soon the effect wears off!

Brrrrr! I watched the Padre's/Cubs game Thursday night and the were saying the temp was around freezing. That's tropical compared to what you're showing

lol, Corey. I just spent a week in Boston, went to a Red Sox game where the temp was 44F. We looked like Siberian orphans and I was still freezing. I had to buy a sweatshirt from Suffolk University simply because it was the first place I came to one morning when we were out walking. So I understand, slightly, what spring in the east is like. Your narrative is funny, especially that line about "bipolar hissy fits" --that's one of the best!!

Love that narrative! You have a great gift. I like temperate...but it's been too hot for me to garden this week, in the 70'sF in April!

This is why I live on the West Coast! Loved your narrative as it put a smile on my face this morning. Great shot!
